Weatherization Fund

Last year we figured we would need $20,000 to weatherize the three occupied but un-renovated addresses at Spaulding Court. In the fall of 2012, we raised $10,000 towards that goal and were able to weatherize two of the three homes. As the fall draws to a close, we’re seeking to raise the remaining $10,000 and keep all our tenants warm this winter.

Friends of Spaulding Court is a not for profit organization on a mission to promote strength and diversity in Corktown. We do not yet have independent federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status (we’d love to though–fill out the form on the left if you can help out!). Spirit of Hope and the Southwest Detroit Business Association act as fiscal sponsors in various capacities and allow us to accept tax-deductible contributions. Contributions of any size are very much appreciated! Online donations are processed through Paypal.

Progress on 1913

1913 Spaulding Court is all built out. It’s incredibly nice. Check out Thick Air Studios for the artists behind the work and find construction photos at the 1913 blog

Finance Spaulding

Renovating houses doesn’t come cheap. Luckily, people will gladly pay to have a nice place at Spaudling Court. We currently have roughly $100,000 in debt from 20 or so individuals who decided to use their money to make positive change. We’ve been borrowing at 5% interest and don’t miss payments.
